If you don't play on a gold level, it's luck based. If you play on a gold level, might be difficult. If you play at a plat+ level its probably easy. Using Only Tryn and Jayce i got my account Skillerrajan to Gold fairly easily with such a high MMR I even skipped Silver IV.
I went from Silver V to I in 5 days but Ive been stuck at Silver I since (more then a week) I get matched with gold players in all my games and Ive reached gold promos 4x and lost all 12 games The system matches you with higher ranked players all the time so Im going to get a diamond guy to duo and get me out of here

So from a personal standpoint, Gold 4 (for me) is a pretty good accomplishment early in my LoL career. I never expect to be Diamond, and I may never even see Platinum. It was the same for me when i was bronze to silver, when you get to promotion game more than one time, you can assume you have the lvl for next league. But it require a high part of luck to win 3 of 5 games, just there. i main adc and top, mainly in silver 1 to gold 4. the biggest difference between 2 of them are, silver is really too confident to the point after losing a duel, they keep trying and trying. for example fizz loses to ekko before level 6, yet after level 6 they try the same way again. meanwhile gold players will try to gank other lane and help others. So you've decided that this year is going to be the year -- no more languishing in Bronze and Silver, you're going to make it to Gold in League of Legends if it kills you. A noble goal, to be sure, and not at all out of reach for someone of even average skill, but if you don't want to devote all of your waking hours to grinding out games, there are ways to make the climb a little bit easier on
